Christi has served as Director of the District’s Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children a.k.a. the State WIC Director.  In this role, Christi has been responsible for the largest and most-evidence-based perinatal health program.  Her oversight has ensured that the program not only meets its rigorous federal standards but also the unique needs of the District.  Continuous improvements have been achieved in areas from customer service to rates of breastfeeding initiation and duration under her leadership.  Christi has also brought a passion and skill for innovation and technology to this long-standing program which will improve the impact of WIC and the experience of both participants and vendors for years to come.

First and most importantly, THANK YOU for all you do. There is absolutely no doubt that your support has been a blessing to us.  In fact, we would never have made it with it! This has definitely been an eye opening experience and I have learned a lot.  Thank you for guidance and, especially, your patience.  I respect your the time and effort you have extended and sincerely appreciate you more than words can express.

I want to congratulate you on progress made towards improving the relationship between DOH IT, contract staff and the WIC team.  It is no small feat that you have been able  to change the dynamic and your efforts are working to turn a once dysfunctional and sometimes chaotic arrangement into one that has a clearly defined purpose and an acceptable level of accountability.  I know that there is still a ways to go, but with you leading the team, we will be able to get there sooner than expected.

Amelia Peterson-Kosecki, Bureau Chief

DC Dept. of Health

I wanted to express my gratitude for your leadership and advocacy for innovation within the WIC program in DC. You have been a role model for me since the first time I saw you speak at the breastfeeding conference that Emily organized in 2015. Our intern, Elizabeth, and new Community Director, Katelyn, both told me (individually, and unprompted) how impressed they were with your contributions during our meeting yesterday. The three of us all look up to you as a leader and I wanted you to know how much you inspire us to grow as young professionals and to stay dedicated to improving the health of others! Thank you for all that you do.
